Well, partial transcription, and partially what I'd already converted into readable text while drafting.

Reed attempts to control her excitement. “How many of there are you?” she asks.
“Seventy-three at last head count,” comes the reply. Tanwen squeaks.
“Are you all right?” she asks.
“Yes, we’re fine,” says the young woman without any change in intonation. “We are armed, and we do not know where you have come from but that doesn’t mean we won’t fight to protect ourselves.”
“No one said anything about hurting you,” Reed says. “I’m here to help.” She cranes her head ever so slightly to see past the girl to whoever else is inside.
The blade of the spear tracks her movements with admirable surety. “We have no reason to trust you.”
“We aren’t armed,” Reed protests. She takes out the gun she has strapped to her belt and lays it carefully on the ground. Behind her, she hears a clatter as Tanwen makes a show of dropping the rock she has reacquired. “See? Have someone search us, if you want.” She hears an indignant hiss from behind her and ignores it.
The girl removes the spear with agonizing slowness, lifting it upright and planting the butt on the ground. Her mouth is a small, hard line in her plump face.
Reed tries to get her heart rate back to normal without appearing to do so.
“We would like to speak to your people,” Tanwen says.
The young woman steps outside and slides the door almost shut behind her, fingers of one hand on the iron locking mechanism and the others still gripping her spear. “What reason would a woman have had to advertise that she is alone in her home?” she asks.
Reed feels her excitement seep away from her, tearing at her as it leaves. She understands the girl’s motivations — she’s been guilty of pretending her roommate is in the apartment when someone came to the door unexpectedly — but she can’t control the unexpected burst of anger as that one bubble of hope disappears.
“You are alone,” says Tanwen flatly.
“Yes,” says the girl through gritted teeth, flexing her fingers around her weapon.
Reed places a cautioning hand on Tanwen’s shoulder. “Come with us,” she tells the girl.
“Why?”
“Because there’s no one else,” Reed snaps, and immediately regrets her tone when the girl takes up a more defensive posture. “You two are the only ones I’ve seen since I woke up this morning, and believe you me, that’s not something that happens around here.”
“That isn’t a long time,” says the girl, unconvinced. “There might be others, somewhere else…”
“I was looking for a week,” Tanwen informs her, “Seven days before I found this place, and nothing before that. No one in the towns, no one anywhere.”
“Can you explain why? Why is this happening, and how did you come to be here?” the girl asks.
“We’re trying,” Reed explains.
“How? What are you doing, besides going around and knocking on doors?” The girl drums her fingers against the shaft of the spear.

Can you explain this phenomenon asks the girl with the spear
Do you have any idea why this is happening, how I came to be here, how you came to be here>
I came to be here because I was born here and raised here says reed. It’s the question of how you came here that needs to be answered and as for that I’m afraid I can’t helkp you not githr noew anyweay
We’re trying says Tanwen
We’re trying
Eiri nods. (name not known yet) how are you approaching it? She asks
Science, she wants to know about science
Reed thinks back all right she can work with this it does make sense in a way right now wer’e just trying to asses the sutation and the extent of the damage and then we’re going to figure out why you
Where you came from how
How people got to places they weren’t supposed to be and then then we can figure out why this flood water happened
Eiri asks what they steps they’re going to be taking in order to understand what’s going on which forces reed to articualate
Assess how far the damagesgone
Second to figure out what’s the relationship between their worlds
And then why
Maybe that will be clearer eiri corrects her and

Suddenyly reed sees the way to bring her along. Ceary she says we don’t know nothing about what’s going on or how to deal with it compared to you so why don’t you come along and help uys?
Fine fine she says only because there is no one else and I do not trust you to figure out what you’re doing by yourself something fto that effect
Wshe does not lotgo of the door as she moves
And then she goes inside the house and reed and Tanwen follow her inside
I don’t like her Tanwen tells reed
Reed shrugs I don’t care if you like her or not we are not leaving anyone out here by themselves
They point is tghat I am here to protect and servae and I am going to erppteoct and serve regardless of whether you think everyone else should be
She seems like she can lok after herself says Tanwen
Don’t make no difference says reed she may think she can lok after herself but if she’s stuck here and then bvest shes’ got is a spear then she’s gonna need some helo
She looks upwards to see if the girl as heard them but she doesn’t look down so reed thinks they’re in the clear
Description
White on the inside with high wvaulted ceilings windows which on the outside clash garishly with the exterior and elaborate façade on the inside cast colorful designs across the walls they don’t make pictures exactly but out of the corner of her eye reed can see the colors form almost familiar shapes that blur into abrastrcion as soon as she looks at them straight
Eier leads them on a winding path and down hallfways. They building goes back much fafrtehr than reed had anticipated looking from the outside as she guides them along the girl grumbles bsack at them
The disappray is horrible sye says normally i need to find my books but my servants were the ones who usually worked here and organized them and I’m nto surewhere she put all of my things
When was the last time hse saw her reed asks struggling to collect info
Yesterday afternoon ways ewiri
Eventually e does manage to locate a library (still don’t; know her name)
Full of folded accordion books which eiri opulls off of the shelves in a hurry
She passes them to reed muttering to herself and grumbling and occasionally saying something about how Karen or one of her other servants misplaced something and she would have done a better job
Reed looks sidewats to make sure Tanwen is still with them and finds her giving the girl an increasingfly disgusted look
Reed is apfrain she will act on this if the steady flow of murmurs does not cease and she she attesmpt to distract them both
I don’t believe I caught your name she tells the girl in pink
The girl turns aside from her set of folded books in order to give her a very sligiht nod, blink and you miss it
Eiri _____. And then she introduces herselv with her title, indicative of aristrocracy, not translated
And she pauses a moment considering them and then she says you may just call me eiri
Why would she be doing that? She needs to not resemble Viola’s introduction and she’s not as calm as she
She’s sort of in shock but not to this extent, it wouldn’ty make her totally calm to the extent she is
Possibly reed is disconcerted by her calm until she notices the franticness with which the girl pulls the books off the shelves and the jerky motions and the fact that she is still about to call for her people
They do eventually leave the building back the way they came
Eiri still clkutching her spear and how with a sack of books and scrolls thrown over her shoulder
Do you want to take any food reed asks
Eiri declines
All of the food here is prepared justbefore the meal and I do not now know to cook she says.
I dought that you are able to cook our foods either
All right then says reed I’m going to bring you both back to my apartment so I can figure out what’s going on, seeing as I’m the only one who knows where we are
Will it be safe asks eiri
As safe as anywhere I survived, didn’t I reed says
They do not go directlu back to reed’s apartment she makes them pas by the grocery store first she feels a little guilty as they raid the food sections and she makes sure that she loads up several baskets with canned goods and frozen foods that don’t require heating up seeing as the electricity is gone
She hands plastic bags of that and then fresh food while it lass to the two girls she has in tow
They both seem fortunately for her to see the good sense in this and don’t argue
In orderinary circumstances reed would take them to the police station — forms etc
She cannot shake the fear of what will happen if gthe waters come back there is no predictability to it and no rhyme or reason that tey should stay away
Neither Tanwen nor eiri approve of reed’s seven glights of starirs and because of this
By the time they gat back to reeds’ apartment it is coser to midafternoon the clouds have not lifted but the sky has cbecome a glithtyl lighter shade of grey
Cars still clog the strets and reed will not go down into the subway now if she can help it at all
When tey get back to her apaprtment she loks into neil’s room once again hoping against hope that he will have returned somehow but there is nothing
When she scours the entire apartment for one of the notes that they usually leave each other on the refrigeteator when they’ll go out but there is nothing
The pad of Adrienne paper still has the last set of notes on its front, a list of dinner prep instructions
Eriri take commands of reeds apartment as though she owns it which irritates reed for reasons which she cannot quite justify since she did offer to lodge them there so they could sall thsay together
Maybe her reasons are not the greatest
Maybe it is that she just wants to not be alone regardless here they are and she has no right to complain
Tanwen perches as far away from the window as she can get so that she does not have to see the drop outside
Reed makes them cold sandwiches with turkey and lettuce and tomato on slightly stale rolls, all things she found in the kitchen
Tanwen opens her sandwich suspiciously and examines her contents and asks about every one before she weill take a bite
Eiri asks not questions but observes them both eating before she will take a bite as though making sure she is doing it right rather than admit knowing that she doesn’t know how to eat one
Regardless what happens is that they eat lunch and then reed goes about trying to figure out what to do next. Rthis is when she starts to panic
She realizes that she is going to become panicky and therefore she needs to lcok herself in her room she makes sure that they both know where the toilet is and then she has to demonstrate how they are to use it as neither girl seems to have any idea what it is or how to yse it
Then she locks herself in her room with laptop and books and phone
Starts looking through disaster protocols
The internet is down because there ius no power which is something that is stresseful and so she is left with just the books and there is nothing about this in her training and she threw away most of her instruction manuals years ago
She looks at the protocols for missing persons but they all involve defefrring to someone higher up in rank and as far as she can tell she is the only person with any rank left at all
She thinks about her ways of contacting the outside world without people or electronics and laughs bitterly for she realizes what she must do
She gets up on the roof and starts doing smoke signals in the hopes that someone will see
She locks Tanwen and eiri in anreassureas them she’ll erturn
When she is up there, she notices that there are more trees around than she is used to seeing. At first she thinks it’s just a matter of perspective, because she’s not often up on the roof, but no. they are te wrong times of teredex too. Dread begins to rise in her, remembering
She goes doewnstairs and asks Tanwen to recount exactly HER EXPERIENCE OF HOW THE world around her unfolded into reed’s
Why Tanwen asks have you gained anything from this she ewants to know if this has provided reed with any useful information regarding how this came to be
No reed says I’m sorry it’s nothing
Can either of you carry a bucket with me? I want to get as mnuch fresh water as possible before the pipses stop working
